Peaceful 'No to Marxism in America' and 'Mother of All Back The Blue Rallies' events were held at the Terry Schrunk Plaza near the courthouse at the Justice Center in downtown Portland , Saturday.

The rallies proceeded peacefully until left-wing antifa extremists crashed the event later in the day armed with pepper sprays, paintball guns, bats, shields, projectiles and bags of feces and urine.

Video clips of the brawl that ensued circulated online. One showed antifa extremists punching a woman to the ground. They threw eggs, rocks, feces and urine at the peaceful rally goers.

Other videos show members of the free speech and self-defense social group, Proud Boys in all-out brawl with the left-wing extremists, pepper-spraying and bashing each other with shields. There was no police intervention initially.

The left-wing rioters also targeted police with projectiles, including rocks and balloons filled with feces, according to police.

Police later announced on Twitter: “Federal officials have declared an unlawful assembly in Terri Schrunk Plaza. The crowd is being ordered to disperse to the North or be subject to force, arrest, or crowd control munitions.”

"We are investigating criminal acts when we are aware of them and ask for any victims to come forward so we can build the best case we can for enhanced outcomes for prosecution," police Chief Chuck Lovell said Saturday in a statement.

"Crowd management events are complex, especially when they involve groups with differing ideologies with members who wish to engage in physical confrontations," he added.

Portland Police also tweeted a picture showing feces and urine used by the antifa extremists. "Not sure whose job it was to make these.... Just when we thought we had seen it all in over 80 days," the tweet reads.

One video shows antifa extremists setting fire to American flags.

“Someone rolled a mock guillotine with a stuffed bear into the street. The bear and multiple U.S. flags were burned. Paint balloons were launched at officers, as well as green lasers,” the police said in a statement Sunday morning.

According to police, fourteen arrests were made.
