According to Chicago Police Superintendent. David Brown: "About 2:30 p.m [Sunday], officers responded to a report of a man with a gun. He fled as they arrived, Brown said, and fired at officers. They returned fire, striking the man, who was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital and is expected to survive. The 20-year-old man had previously faced charges of domestic battery, reckless conduct and child endangerment."

After the shooting, a crowd gathered in the area. “Tempers flared, fueled by misinformation,” Brown said.

Tom Ahern CPD: Offender’s firearm recovered by police after firing at Officers. Officers returned fire striking the offender. Offender transported to U of C Hospital.

Riots broke out shortly after at around midnight and continued until early morning Monday.

Brown said the first looting incident was at 87th Street and the Dan Ryan Expressway, but “soon, car caravans were headed into the Loop” to begin looting

Crowds broke windows and looted stores along Michigan Avenue and on the Near North Side. Several businesses along Lake Street were looted, as were a jewelry store and McDonald’s near the Daley Center.

Videos posted to social media showed large crowds breaking windows and entering stores along the Magnificent Mile.

Some videos showed hundreds of people looting stores such as Nordstrom, Walgreens, Macy's, Coach, Gucci, Tesla and Louis Vuitton. Ken Londe, the owner of Londo Mondo, said his store was looted around 2:30 am. causing well over $25,000 worth in loss merchandise. He also said the cash drawer was stolen.

Two people were shot, more than 100 people were arrested and 13 police officers were injured. “This was not an organized protest. Rather, this was an incident of pure criminality," Brown told reporters. "This was an act of violence against our police officers and against our city.”

The Police also blamed liberal democrat prosecutors who do not prosecute many violent criminals, and Judges who let these criminals out of jail early after they're convicted.

Chicago democrat Mayor Lori Lightfoot called on the public to help apprehend the rioters. “Give no shelter to the criminals,” Lightfoot said. “People in [the] neighborhoods know who these folks are. ... This is your time to step up. ... We cannot do this without you. ... We are not going to let our city be taken over by criminals and vigilantes.”

In another democrat-run city Seattle, thousands of pro-police supporters donned blue and American patriotic colors as the massive crowd of demonstrators wrapped around city hall for a 'Back the Blue' rally.

The rally was met with a group of violent far left Black Lives Matter and antifa rioters who tried and failed to disrupt the rally. The two opposing group tried to drown each other out with 'Black Lives Matter' and 'Blue Lives Matter' chants.

Meanwhile the Seattle City Council is expected to vote, Monday, on defunding the local police department .

In Portland, a riot was declared Sunday evening as officers tried to quell another night of unrest that saw protesters march on a police union building, throw objects at officers, block a road and set dumpster fires.

Several people were arrested in what was the 74th night of riot in Portland, since George Floyd's death in police custody in Minneapolis.

A video posted on social media over the weekend showed an all-out brawl on Saturday, between pro-police protesters and Antifa/BLM rioters in Fort Collins, Colorado.

The BLM protesters apparently attacked a man in a wheelchair, as the pro-police protesters tried to chase away the violent far left group.

"So, we are currently marching the Antifa commie bastards out of the neighborhood because nobody wants Antifa in the neighborhood," said the person recording the video. "Nobody wants them here, so we’re marching them out."

Police quickly arrived at the scene and arrested some of the antifa rioters.

One of the videos circulating online showed one of the BLM protesters warning their antifa allies who were all dressed in black to be mindful of their actions.
