Elon Musk's X Sues Media Matters Over Far-left Group's Antisemitism Report

Elon Musk's social media company X has filed a legal claim against activist group Media Matters for America, after the far-left media outlet published a bogus report claiming that adverts are run next to so-called antisemitic content on X. The controversial report has since led to many woke big companies including IBM and Disney pausing advertising campaigns on the X.

In the lawsuit filed Monday, in Texas’ northern district against Media Matters and the author of the report, Eric Hananoki, X alleged that the far-left group was trying to drive away its advertisers.

The company argues that most users wouldn’t have seen the ads next to the posts Media Matters found. The activist group followed advertisers’ accounts and few accounts that posted “extreme, fringe content,” X said, and scrolled until it saw the ads. Two users saw an Apple ad next to the so-called antisemitic content mentioned in the Media Matters report, Linda Yaccarino, X’s CEO, said in a post on the platform.

X sued Media Matters over claims including business disparagement and interference with contracts, in reference to X’s contracts with advertisers.

The social media company is asking Media Matters to pay for damages over lost advertising and to take down the bogus report. Some top advertisers, including Apple, Comcast and IBM, paused spending after the report came out, X said in its lawsuit.

Media Matters president and far-left extremist Angelo Carusone, said the organization stood behind its reporting. “This is a frivolous lawsuit meant to bully X’s critics into silence,” he said in an X post ironically.

Media Matters has since been facing backlash from free speech activists who slammed the far-left group for their long-running fascist and corrupt effort against freedom of expression.

"Today I opened an investigation into Media Matters for potential fraudulent activity after X CEO Elon Musk accused the left-wing media watchdog group of manipulating data on the social media platform.," Texas state Attorney General Ken Paxton announced on X.

Musk himself has also triggered many far-left activists, politicians and media talking heads with some of his posts on X, which they claim are antisemitic. Jewish activist groups and Democrat politicians in the United States have been slandering the Tesla chief for his refusal to censor lawful content on X since he acquired the social media company.
