The incident happened at approximately 1:50 p.m. local time Thursday, in New Mexico during a filming of Rust, a Western film set in the 1880s that stars Baldwin, Travis Fimmel and Jensen Ackles.

According to the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office, cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, was killed and director Joel Souza, 48, was injured when “a prop firearm was discharged” by Baldwin.

"According to investigators it appears that the scene being filmed involved the use of a prop firearm when it was discharged," the statement said. "Detectives are investigating how and what type of projectile was discharged."

Hutchins was pronounced dead by medical personnel at University of New Mexico Hospital, according to the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office at the hospital. And Souza is in critical condition Souza, at the Christus St. Vincent's Regional Medical Center.

Authorities said the investigation is active. Baldwin was questioned by investigators late Thursday.

The far-left actor -- who is known for his unhinged political skits mocking President Donald Trump -- is a gun control advocate and Democrat activist.

Critics point out that while Hollywood left-wing celebrities advocate for restrictions on gun ownership, they seem to love 'churning' out movie after movie depicting extreme gun violence. They also love their bodyguards armed to the the teeth.
