Gunman Opens Fire In A Copenhagen Shopping Mall, Killing Several People, In Shocking Terror Attack

A footage of the incident circulating online Sunday, appears to show the moment shots rang out at packed Fields shopping mall in the Danish capital, amid screams as people flee from the scene. About 3 people were killed and several others injured. The mall is on the outskirts of Copenhagen just across from a subway line that connects the city center with the international airport.

The gunman could be seen brandishing a large rifle before unloading bullets on shoppers. One footage shows him chasing after some of the people fleeing the scene.

The head of the Copenhagen police operations unit, police inspector Soren Thomassen, told a news conference that a 22-year-old Danish man was arrested in connection with the shooting by armed officers near Field's shopping mall.

"We know that there are several dead" and "several injured," Thomassen told a news conference, adding that terrorism can't be ruled out. "We do not have information that others are involved" he said. "This is what we know now."

The 22-year-old gunman's identity was not initially confirmed by police, but has since been identified as Noah Esbensen.

Esbensen reportedly has mental health issues. He recently posted multiple videos on YouTube, one entitled "I don't care" in which he held firearms to his head. Police does not believe Sunday's attack to be terrorism-related.
