Roe v. Wade Overturned: Supreme Court Returns Abortion Regulation To States; As AOC, Maxine Waters, Other Leftists Call For Riots

The case Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, is centered on a Mississippi law -- Gestational Age Act -- that banned abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy. The state of Mississippi asked the Supreme Court of The United States, SCOTUS, to strike down a lower court ruling that stopped the law from going into effect. The high court was also asked to overturn past rulings in 2 other cases -- Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey -- which made access to abortion a constitutional right.

Legal experts across the political spectrum including late SCOTUS left-wing Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg have argued that the so-called right to abortion is no where in the United States constitution.

A  SCOTUS draft opinion in the controversial case was leaked at the beginning of last month, leading to riots and calls for violence against conservative justices of the court by left-wing abortion extremists including elected Democrat politicians.

The Supreme Court Friday, published their final ruling on the case. In the 5-4 majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito -- and joined by Justices Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett --the high court overturned Roe and Casey.

"The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives," Justice Alito writes.

The SCOTUS opinion began with an exploration and criticism of Roe and its holding that while states have "a legitimate interest in protecting ‘potential life,'' this interest was not strong enough to prohibit abortions before the time of fetal viability, understood to be at about 23 weeks into pregnancy.

"The Court did not explain the basis for this line, and even abortion supporters have found it hard to defend Roe’s reasoning," Alito wrote.

In conclusion, he wrote: "We end this opinion where we began. Abortion presents a profound moral question. The Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion. Roe and Casey arrogated that authority. We now overrule those decisions and return that authority to the people and their elected representatives."

Left-wing Justices Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elana Kagan, all appointed by Democrats, dissented the majority opinion, writing that Roe and Casey "understood the difficulty and divisiveness of the abortion issue," and that by the high court overturning the ruling, a woman "has no rights to speak of."

In conclusion the dissenting justices wrote "With sorrow--for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection--we dissent."

Chief Justice John Roberts wrote a separate concurrent opinion supporting the Mississippi law but argued against wholly overturning Roe even though he agreed with the majority that it is a flawed ruling.

Roberts' concurrent opinion initially confused many observers and reporters who were not sure if the ruling is a 6-3 or 5-4 ruling. It's certainly a 5-1-3 majority ruling.

Responding to news of the ruling Friday, pro-life activists across America and the west took to social media and the streets to celebrate the historic decision.

Donald Trump -- who appointed Justices Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Barrett during his presidency -- also celebrated the SCOTUS decision. He specifically promised during the 2016 presidential campaign to nominate candidates to the SCOTUS who adhere to the text of the constitution. He fulfilled that promise.

In a message to his supporters who may not be happy with Friday's ruling, Trump told Fox News: "I think, in the end, this is something that will work out for everybody.... This brings everything back to the states where it has always belonged."

When asked whether he feels he played a role in the reversal of Roe, the former president told said: "God made the decision." Later in a statement, he called the ruling "the biggest WIN for LIFE in a generation."

Leftists on the hand were extremely triggered by the Supreme Court's ruling. Activists and elected Democrats like Maxine Waters and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called for violent riots.

Far-left groups have been organizing on social media, asking people to besiege the homes of the conservative justices. Woke Hollywood celebs like pop star Taylor Swift and comedian Amy Schumer have taken to social media to condemn the high court ruling.

Critics have called out President Joe Biden and the Department of Justice(DOJ) for not moving to prevent protests at the homes of the justices. Such protests are illegal.
