Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico was shot multiple times Wednesday, in Handlova, about 90 miles northeast of the capital of Bratislava, leaving him in a "life-threatening condition."
The shooter who is in custody, is reportedly 71-year-old Juraj Cintula, a far-left media writer and supporter of the left-wing party Progressive Slovakia. He has posts on his Facebook page openly expressing hatred for the prime minister.
A statement on Fico's Facebook page says he has "been shot multiple times and is currently in life-threatening condition." He is expected to receive a medical procedure, it added, noting that "the next few hours will decide."
Defense Minister Robert Kalina told reporters outside the hospital that medical teams were still fighting to save Fico's life. An operation on Fico was not yet complete and his condition remains "extraordinarily serious."
"Utterly shocked by today's brutal attack on Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico, which I condemn in strongest possible terms," Slovakia President Zuzana Čaputová wrote on X.
In the wake of the shooting, Slovakia’s major opposition parties, including Progressive Slovakia and Freedom and Solidarity, canceled a planned protest against a government plan to overhaul public broadcasting.
Fico was elected on his opposition to giving military aid to Ukraine -- and prolonging the war with Russia -- which he has since stopped. The prime minister also opposes European Union sanctions on Russia and wants to block Ukraine from joining NATO.
The prime minister who opposes WHO's global pandemic accord, recently made headlines around the world by saying he would criminally investigate his government's COVID response and the corrupt policies that killed his countrymen triggering panic in 'big pharma.'
"As Prime Minister of Slovakia, I can tell you that we are going to look into these politicians and their meaningless purchases of medical devices and vaccines," Fico said "Slovakia REJECTS the WHO’s pandemic treaty!"
Fico also opposes EU migration pact as sea of illegal aliens immigrate to Europe from mostly Africa and middle east.
Hungary popular conservative Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, wrote on X that he was "deeply shocked by the heinous attack against my friend" and that he is praying for a quick recovery.
Political observers have pointed out that Fico, who himself predicted recently that a world leader would be targeted for assassination, opposes the globalist agenda pushed by many left-wing activist across public and private institutions and governments.
