Twitter owner Elon Musk first announced he has hired a new CEO of X(new name of the company housing Twitter) on Thursday, but did not reveal who until Friday morning. She is Linda Yaccarino former NBCUniversal advertising executive.
"I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter!" Musk tweeted Friday. "@LindaYacc will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design & new technology. Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app."
NBCUniversal announced earlier that Yaccarino was stepping down from his role "effective immediately," leading many to conclude she is Musk's new hire before he confirmed it. She'll be starting her new gig at X in about six weeks, the billionaire entrepreneur said on Thursday.
While at NBCUniversal, Yaccarino has worked closely with Twitter, as NBCU is the social media platform's largest media partner, on big sports events such as the World Cup and the Olympics.
NBCU announced an expanded deal with Twitter for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, which includes a “Paris 25-Day Countdown” featuring daily athlete or event clips leading into the Opening Ceremonies, and real-time highlights and an exclusive live Twitter show during the Games.
Musk said he plans to transition to a role as executive chairman and chief technology officer CTO, at X, in which he'll focus on "overseeing product, software and sysops."
The Tesla and SpaceX chief who acquired Twitter late last October, conducted a poll and pledged in December to step down as the head of the social media company as soon as he found someone "foolish enough to take the job."
The announcement of Yaccarino as next CEO, triggered a firestorm on the platform, after users started digging into her background. She's the executive chairman of the globalist organization, World Economic Forum, WEF, which promotes all sorts of nefarious policies like the Great Reset; "you will own nothing and you'll be happy;" encouraging bug eating; and other degenerate social and climate alarmist policies.
As Ad Council chair, Yaccarino partnered with the discredited left-wing President Joe Biden's White House in 2021 to create a coronavirus vaccine campaign featuring Pope Francis.
Several videos circulationg on Gab and Twitter, also show Yaccarino promoting woke propaganda: LGBTQ, DEI and other degenerate 'alphabet soup' of propaganda. One video shows her questioning Musk at an advertiser event in Florida last month, during which she appeared to focus on encouraging the Twitter owner to censor more "awful" content on the platform.
Outraged critics on social media called out Musk for hiring Yaccarino, after he himself has condemned WEF in the past, and routinely slams the "woke mind virus" corrupting society. "RIP Twitter" trended on the social media platform as people fear that her hiring may signal a return to 'Twitter 1.0,' the era of systematic censorship targeted at conservatives on the platform.
"As soon as @LindaYacc is ready, we will do a Spaces where you can ask us anything, " Musk tweeted Friday. And responding to a concerned user, he wrote: "I hear your concerns, but don’t judge too early. I am adamant about defending free speech, even if it means losing money."
Responding to another, he wrote: "Obviously, bringing on Linda allows me to devote more time to Tesla, which is exactly what I will be doing!" The electric car maker will hold its annual shareholder meeting in Austin, Texas.
