UK To EU: We May Quit Talks June, If No Progress

Keneci Channel.

The United Kingdom says it may end post-Brexit trade talks with the European Union in June, if there is no concrete progress.

The document outlining UK government's priorities in the talks makes clear that the UK "is committed to working in a speedy and determined fashion" to get a trade agreement with the EU.

However the document warns that if by June, there is no workable "broad outline of an agreement," the Government will instead focus on domestic preparations to leave the transition period "in an orderly fashion."

Speaking to Parliament the minister in charge of delivering Brexit, Michael Gove said "we do not need the EU's permission to be a liberal nation leading the world against climate change and for social progress."

The UK left the EU January 31, but continues to abide by many EU rules while talks on a permanent trading agreement take place.
