Golden Globes: Comedian Ricky Gervais Skewers Hollywood Celebs

Keneci Channel

In a hilarious and stinging monologue at this year's Golden Globe awards, British comedian Ricky Gervais warned attending stars to not give any political speech when they are called to accept their "little awards."

Starting the over seven and half minute monologue he jokingly wondered why the NBC network hired him again to host the awards given his past controversial comments. "...NBC clearly don't care either, this time," he joked. He proceeded to call the gathered celebrities, perverts.

Gervais trashed the award show itself and shamelessly plugged his Netflix show. "No one cares about movies any more; no one goes to the cinema; no one rarely watches network TV. Everyone is watching Netflix." He also joked about the "Epstein didn't kill himself" meme.

No one was spared. Pointing out Apple CEO Tim Cook, Gervais joked "Apple rode into the TV game with 'The Morning Show'....- a superb drama about the importance of dignity and doing the right thing - made by a company that runs sweat shops in China."
