Italy is set to have its first-ever female prime minister in Giorgia Meloni, as the conservative populist's right-wing alliance is on course to take control of both the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, with around 44% of the vote, following Sunday's election. The left-wing alliance was a long way behind the right with 26% of the vote.

The conservative populist and leader of the right-wing Brothers of Italy political party, outlined her priorities earlier this year, in a rousing speech to Spain's far-right Vox party: "Yes to the natural family, no to the LGBT lobby, yes to sexual identity, no to gender ideology... no to Islamist violence, yes to secure borders, no to mass migration... no to big international finance... no to the bureaucrats of Brussels!" Meloni said.

Since her victory, the left-wing media and far-left activists and politicians have embarked on their usual vitriolic smear campaign against Meloni and her anti-woke stance, calling her a 'fascist,' 'Nazi,' etc.

Political experts point out that fascism is ideologically left-wing, and that Hitler's Nazi was a socialist party, Both fascism and Nazism are marked by a powerful state over the individual, as opposed to conservative right-wing ideology which favors more individual freedom and rule of law.
