[UPDATE] Day 2 - Senate Judiciary Hearing: Democrats Demand Policy Commitments From SCOTUS Nominee

Senate Democrats on day 2 of the hearing repeatedly tried to get Barrett to reveal how she may rule on issues relating to healthcare, abortion, homosexual marriage, election disputes and other social and racial issues.

In response, Barrett repeatedly invoked the practice followed by nominees before her to not answer any question that could come up in a case before her in the supreme court.

Critics observed that some of the Democrat senators gave long speeches, asking just a few questions to the nominee. Watch:

Democrats at the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Monday tried to pressure and shame Trump's supreme court nominee Amy Coney Barrett into ruling in their favor on any future case, especially the obamacare and abortion cases.

Virtually none of the Democrats' opening remarks had anything to do with the qualification of the supreme court nominee. Instead they focused on attacking President and pressuring the nominee to agree with their radical socialist policies.

"President Trump and Congressional Republicans repeatedly tried to get rid of the Affordable Care Act[obamacare]...," Biden's running mate and California senator Kamala Harris, said. "So now they are trying to bypass the will of voters and have the Supreme Court do their dirty work."

Delaware Senator Chris Coons told Barrett that her judicial philosophy "has dramatic and potentially very harmful consequences with regards to the election, the Affordable Care Act and long-settled rights."

Connecticut senator Richard Blumenthal claimed that Barrett's "participation... in any case involving Donald Trump's election would immediately do explosive, enduring harm to the court's legitimacy and to your own credibility." He demanded that the supreme court nominee recuse herself from such cases.

The hysterical Democrat senators also argued against the confirmation itself, claiming that by Republicans going ahead with the hearing so close to the election, they are subverting the will of the people.

Republican Texas senator Ted Cruz however shutdown the claim by giving a brief history of nominations to the supreme court. He explained that past United States presidents had nominated people to the supreme court in election years. And many of the nominees had been confirmed when the same party controls the White House and senate.

Cruz speaking via video conference during the hearing, also called out Democrat senators for focusing on President Trump in their remarks  instead of the nominee.

“We’ve heard a lot of attacks [on] Trump … we’ve heard a lot of political rhetoric … but we’ve heard very little about the nominee who is here,” Cruz said. “Part of the reason for that, is on any measure, Judge Barrett’s credentials are impeccable.”

Earlier in his opening remarks, Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Lindsey Graham urged Democrats to not attack Barrett the way they did to last Trump's supreme court nominee, Justice Brett Kavanaugh who Democrats and there media allies smeared throughout his confirmation hearing.

The Barrett hearing resumes Tuesday and will end on Thursday.
