Boris Johnson Announces Plan To End The Wuhanvirus Lockdown

Keneci Channel.

UK Prime minister on Sunday evening announced a 'conditional plan' to roll back the wuhanvirus lockdown restrictions imposed in March.

According to the Prime minister, anyone who cannot work from home should return to the workplace travelling preferably by car or bicycle. "Work from home if you can, but you should go to work if you can't work from home," he said.

Johnson said the government will establish a guidance to "make workplaces covid-secure."

"This is not the time simply to end the lockdown this week; instead we are taking the first careful steps to modify our measures," he cautioned. However he acknowledged the economic hardship the lockdown has caused.

He said he hopes that shops will open up, and primary pupils will be able to return to school "at the earliest by 1 June."

The new message is "stay alert, control the virus, save lives."

Johnson said he "consulted across the political spectrum, across all four nations in the UK[ - North Island, Wales, Scotland and England]."

Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have powers over their own lockdown restrictions. England's measures are set by the government at Westminster.

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said after the speech she felt the PM should have stressed "more strongly" that most of the changes he referred to in his speech applied to England only.

The prime minster said he will release more details and answer questions from the parliament and public on Monday.
