CORONA-SHUTDOWN: Boris Johnson Tightens Measures Amid Media Hysteria

Keneci Channel.

After weeks of fear-mongering and mass hysteria, mainstream media talking heads in United Kingdom got their wish. Boris Johnson has enacted stringent Coronovirus emergency measures to contain the pandemic.

In a televised address Monday, the Prime Minister announced that all non essential travel and business activities will not be allowed within the UK for three weeks. This means all non-essential shops, outdoor gyms, kiosks and places of worship will also be closed.

People could be fined £30 for meeting outside in groups of more than two. The government is essentially telling you to stay home if you don't add anything productive to society. Critics may say the media should be shutdown too. Talking heads have done nothing but scream and spread panic.

People are allowed to go out and Shop for essentials; exercise outdoors once per day; receive medical treatment and travel to and from work if impossible to work from home.

There are currently over 8,077 coronavirus cases and 422 deaths.

For weeks talking heads on TV like Piers Morgan have been screaming at the top of their lungs berating the Prime Minister for not acting fast enough. Critics have called out fear-mongering by the media since the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Ironically most of those who call for total shutdown don't have to worry about losing their jobs. In fact stoking hysteria and fear is their business model.

For weeks, Prime Minister Johnson resisted hysterical calls by the media to enact stringent shutdown measures as the coronavirus pandemic spreads around the world. Governments across the world have a tough balancing act - keeping citizens healthy versus sustaining the economy.

Conservative members of parliament have urged Johnson to not let the shutdown last longer than necessary. Speaking in Parliament, MP Steve Baker said of the emergency measures, "Somebody will call it totalitarian, though I don't think that's quite fair, but it is at least dystopian. It is implementing a command society under the imperative of saving hundreds of thousands of lives and millions of jobs and it is worth doing.

And by God, I do hope the Prime Minister has a clear conscience tonight and sleeps with a good heart because he deserves to do so."

Baker like many hardworking Britons, is obviously not a fan of the emergency measures.

President, Donald Trump who announced a 15-day shutdown guideline over a week ago, also seems to have had it with the shutdown measures being enacted by some states across the United States.

The President tweeted late Sunday, "WE CANNOT LET THE CURE BE WORSE THAN THE PROBLEM ITSELF. AT THE END OF THE 15 DAY PERIOD, WE WILL MAKE A DECISION AS TO WHICH WAY WE WANT TO GO!"

Well the all caps tweet really speaks for itself.
