The 33-year-old champ was in control during much of the fight with his long time sparring partner Dillian Whyte before over 94 000 boxing fans at Wembley Stadium, England.

Whyte 34, was mostly reckless with some big but wayward shots. He tried to play rough and get in the head of Fury, while hoping to land the one big punch to turn him into a superstar overnight.

That was not to be. Fury sent the 34-year-old crashing to the mat in round 6, with a brutal right uppercut. Whyte made it to his feet before the count of 10, but when asked to walk forward by the referee, he stumbled into the ropes and the bout was waved off with one second left in the round.

A viral clip online, also shows concerned Fury urging referee Mark Lyson to pull a dazed Dillian Whyte from the fight, just seconds after the Gypsy King landed the killer blow.

Fury praised Whyte after the fight Saturday.

"He is as strong as a bull and has the heart of a lion," He said of Whyte, "but tonight he met a great in the sport, one of the greatest heavyweights of all time.

"I think," Fury added, "even Lennox Lewis would be proud of that uppercut."

Fury was making the second defense of the WBC Heavyweight championship title he won from Deontay Wilder in 2020 via seventh-round KO. Fury followed that victory with an 11th-round KO of Wilder in October in ESPN's Fight of the Year.

Fury suggested Friday's fight may be his last after 14 years as a professional.

"I promised my lovely wife, Paris, of 14 years that after the Wilder 3 fight that would be it, and I meant it," Fury said moments after the fight. "It was a great trilogy and I meant that. ...But I got offered to fight at Wembley, at home, a fight I deserved -- I owed it to the fans ... I owed it to every person in the U.K. to fight at Wembley. And now it's all gone, I have to be a man of my word and think this is it. This might be the final curtain of the Gypsy King."

Fury also paid tribute to the fans. “I'm overwhelmed with the support,” he said. “I can't believe my 94,000 countrymen and women came here tonight to see me perform. I want to say from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much to every single person who bought a ticket in here tonight or stayed up late to watch it on TV."

Apparently Fury also beat Whyte at his game. The 34-year-old is known for his relentless body punching to wear his opponents down, so much so that he was given the nickname, ‘The Body Snatcher.’

However during Saturday's fight, it was the 'Gypsy King' who came out targeting Whyte's body.

During his post-fight press conference, Fury revealed what was said in a brief exchange they had after he landed the killer blow.

“The one thing that amazed me was, I clipped ‘The Body Snatcher’ with a left hook to the body," Fury said with a big grin on his face. "I [said to Whyte]: ‘You’re hurt, Body Snatcher, ain’t you?’ And he went, ‘yeah,’ so that was funny.”
