Charlamagne Tha God On Gayle King Backlash: "I Just Don't See Us Going That Hard On White People"

The backlash from the black community is swifty, nasty and threatening against CBS This Morning co-host Gayle King for asking WNBA star Lisa Leslie about Kobe Bryant‘s 2003 sexual assault case. Ms King is  an African American.

Many African Americans took to social media to call Gayle King a nasty race traitor, sell-out, coon etc.  Rapper and TV food show host Snoop Dogg posted a now deleted Instagram video threatening her. "How dare you tryna torch my motherfuckin' home boy's reputation, punk motherfucker? Respect the family and back off bitch before we come get you," he said in the video.

Reacting to the outrage on his syndicated radio show The Breakfast Club, provocative co-host Charlamagne Tha God said that the backlash against Gayle King is unwarranted. "Based off what Gayle you know, did in that interview, the backlash she's receiving isn't warranted. I don't think it's worth death threats....especially when you know, I just don't see us going that hard on white people...."

Charlamagne insists there are other white journalists who deserve such backlash instead. Some callers to the show however slammed Gayle King. One caller Janelle said, "...The media has to understand it's a delicate time, people are grieving. And I understand that you have to ask the hard questions, but it's not the time...Gayle as a black woman, she should know when to pull back..."

Gayle King addressed the controversy in an instagram video. She said “Unbeknownst to me, my network put up a clip from a very wide-ranging interview, totally taken out of context, and when you see it that way, it’s very jarring. It’s jarring to me. I didn’t even know anything about it. I started getting calls... I didn’t know what people were talking about.”

Billionaire media executive Oprah Winfrey revealed that Gayle King has been receiving death threats since the controvertial interview.
