Elon Musk reinstated former President Donald Trump on the social media platform on Saturday, a day after over 52 percent voted on his Twitter poll in favor of bringing back the platform's former prolific user. The poll attracted over 15 million votes.

"Vote now with positivity, but don’t worry, we aren’t going anywhere," Trump posted on his social media platform in reaction to Musk's Twitter poll. Truth Social is special!"

The former president's @realDonaldTrump account was reinstated Saturday evening, triggering massive traffic on the website as millions react to the news. "The people have spoken," Musk tweeted. "Trump will be reinstated. "Vox Populi, Vox Dei." He also revealed that over 134 million people saw the poll.

"Mr President" and "He's Back!" trended on Twitter following the news of the reinstatement of the former president's account, as supporters and critics welcome and slam Musk's decision respectively.

U.S. left-wing media outlet CBS News was roundly mocked on Twitter after they announced Saturday evening, that they're ending their presence on Twitter, only to resume tweeting by Sunday morning. "After pausing for much of the weekend to assess the security concerns, CBS News and Stations is resuming its activity on Twitter as we continue to monitor the situation" CBS News PR tweeted. To which Musk replied with a mocking emoji.

Reacting to the news, Trump told the Republican Jewish Coalition meeting in Las Vegas via video link, in an interview Saturday: “I hear we’re getting a big vote to also go back on Twitter. I don’t see it because I don’t see any reason for it. It may make it, it may not make it,” he added referencing the turmoil at the social media company as Musk tries to clean house.

Trump was banned from Twitter immediately after the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol protests. Musk like some other world leaders did last year, has made clear since he announced his bid to buy the platform, that he is opposed to the former president's ban.

Twitter also reinstated the account of investigative news outlet Project Veritas, which has earlier in the year, exposed some of the behind the scene antics at the social media platform.

The account of popular internet personality and former kickboxing champion, Andrew Tate was also unlocked on Friday.
