The British TV host walked off the set during a heated exchange with colleague Alex Beresford on Good Morning Britain Tuesday.

Beresford was going in on Morgan during a segment, calling his comments about Markle in the aftermath of her Oprah interview "diabolical" and accusing him of having it out for her no matter what.

Morgan 55, had said earlier, that he "didn't believe a word" the duchess had told Oprah Winfrey about her mental health in an interview.

Beresford questioned whether Morgan had any personal beef with the Duchess of Sussex. “I understand that you don’t like Meghan Markle," he told Morgan. "You’ve made it so clear a number of times on this program, and I understand that you had a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she cut you off. Has she said anything about you after she cut you off? She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. And yet you continue to trash her.”

Morgan apparently upset, then got up and said he was done, walking off while Beresford continued going off to others on set.

Morgan returned later to the set. Many on social media accused the bombastic TV host of staging the walk out. However he denied it. "I was annoyed, went for a little cool-down, and came back to finish the discussion," he later wrote on Twitter.

Within hours after the show statement was released by the network where Morgan has been the lead host of GMB since 2015. "Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain," the statement reads in part.

UK's media regulator Ofcom says it has launched an investigation into Monday's episode of "Good Morning Britain" under its "harm and offence rules." The media regulator says it received more than 41k complaints following Monday's program. Morgan clashed on Monday with a woke left-wing author Dr. Shola Mos-Shogbamimu over the Prince Harry-Meghan interview.

Speaking for the first time since the news of his resignation, Morgan wrote on Instagram: "Thinking of my late great manager John Ferriter tonight. He’d have told me to do the same thing."

The Oprah interview has caused intense backlash in the UK against Prince Harry and his wife Meghan.

In a statement Tuesday after days of silence, Queen Elizabeth II said the family was “saddened” by the allegations in the interview. “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan," she said. "The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. Whilst some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.
