Trump Named Time Magazine's Person Of The Year 2024

Donald John Trump has been named Time magazine’s Person of the Year for 2024, marking the second time he has received this honor. This recognition comes after the President-elect's stunning political comeback, which Time described as “unparalleled in American history.”

Trump’s selection was announced on Thursday, by Time’s Editor-in-Chief, Sam Jacobs, who cited Trump’s “political rebirth” on the 2024 presidential campaign trail, his comeback after an assassination bid, and his “realignment of American politics” as reasons for the choice.

The magazine chose Trump for his ability to shape the world and news headlines over the past 12 months, driven by his historic comeback, political realignment, and reshaping of the American presidency.

The 78-year-old is the first president in U.S. history to lose reelection and then reclaim the White House four years later.

Trump rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange Thursday to mark the occasion, and he also gave an interview to Time magazine, where he discussed his campaign and election win.

The December 30, 2024, Person of the Year issue of Time, featuring Trump on the cover, will be available on newsstands beginning Friday, December 20.
