Tucker Rips Biden Admin For The Arrest Of Peter Navarro; Weaponizing "Judicial System For Political Revenge"

President Joe Biden's Department of Justice officials "intercepted" and arrested Peter Navarro -- a top aide to former President Donald Trump -- at a Washington-area airport recently. Federal prosecutors have charged the 72-year-old with contempt of Congress for defying a subpoena from the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot.

Critics say the all-Democrat committee is illegitimate and a partisan witch-hunt operation against Trump and his allies. During an appearance in court on Friday, where he was indicted on two counts of contempt of congress, Navarro accused federal prosecutors of "playing hardball," and doing the bidding of a "sham committee."

Following the arrest, conservatives slammed the Biden administration and Democrats for abusing and weaponizing organs of government against political opponents. On his show Monday, Fox News' Tucker Carlson called out the corrupt and blatantly partisan prosecutions.

"He's never been charged with a crime," Carlson said. "He's never trafficked fentanyl, for example, from Mexico. In fact, his hobby is yoga and riding his bicycle. In short, Peter Navarro does not seem like a criminal, much less a danger to this nation. And yet last Friday, federal agents arrested Peter Navarro at Reagan National Airport in Washington. They did not call his lawyer, as is customary in cases like this. They didn't even come to his house, which, as it happens, is just feet from the FBI building, and they could have walked, but they didn't. Instead, they took down Peter Navarro in public, as you would a fugitive terror mastermind so everyone could see it and learn the lesson they were sending."

The Fox News host pointed out that while the Biden administration prosecuted former Republican officials, corrupt Democrats are let-off the hook.

"Peter Navarro wouldn't shut up, so they threw him in handcuffs and in fact, at the same moment Peter Navarro was thrown in jail for asserting executive privilege, a Clinton lawyer called Michael Sussman was acquitted by a jury seated by an Obama-appointed judge," Carlson said. "Three of the jurors in that case gave money to Hillary Clinton's campaign and not surprisingly, those same jurors declined to punish Michael Sussmann for lying to the FBI to advance the Russia collusion myth that helped Hillary Clinton's campaign."

Appearing on the show, Navarro told Carlson that he was poorly treated after being arrested. "Next thing I know, I'm in leg irons, handcuffs, and strip-searched," he said. "People do not want to sit in solitary confinement in leg irons ― denied food, denied water, denied an attorney. This is what we live in."

Navarro said he was treated like an "Al Qaeda terrorist" while in custody. He said he was subpoenaed "illegally."

"The legislative branch is not supposed to be the judge, jury, and executioner," Navarro said. "I heard one of your commentators there when you played that clip, (saying) the purpose was to punish Peter Navarro. That's not their role. That's the judiciary's role, so that alone is sufficient to render what they have done illegal and therefore what the Department of Justice did illegal."
