Grok 3: Elon Musk's xAI Launches Latest AI Model

Keneci Network | @kenecifeed

Elon Musk's xAI launched Grok 3, during a livestream early morning UTC Tuesday, the latest version of its AI model, which the company claims outperformed rivals in blind tests. Grok 3 is said to be "an order of magnitude more capable" than its predecessor, Grok 2, and has been trained on 200,000 GPUs, using more than 10 times the computing power of Grok 2.

Grok 3 includes advanced reasoning and agentic features, such as the ability to solve complex mathematical problems and create hybrid games like a combination of Tetris and Bejeweled.

xAI claims that Grok 3 outperformed models from OpenAI, DeepSeek, and Google in various benchmarks, including the AIME test for mathematical reasoning and GPQA for scientific capabilities.

The model also introduces a new feature called DeepSearch, which can conduct comprehensive analyses and generate reports.

Musk said during the launch livestream on X, that Grok 3 is "an order of magnitude more capable" than Grok 2 and is a "maximally truth-seeking AI, even if that truth is sometimes at odds with what is politically correct." He emphasized that Grok 3 is continually improving, with users seeing enhancements every 24 hours.

Early access to Grok 3 is available to X Premium+ subscribers in the U.S. starting Tuesday. The subscription price for X Premium+ was increased to $50 per month, up from $22. A new subscription plan called SuperGrok will offer exclusive access to DeepSearch, better reasoning capabilities, and unlimited image generation.

Grok 3 represents a significant advancement in AI capabilities, according to xAI and Musk. However, the claims of its superiority over rival models are not independently verified.

Andrej Karpathy, a former director of AI at Tesla and a member of OpenAI's founding team, praised Grok 3's "state-of-the-art thinking model," noting it is as good as OpenAI's and superior to DeepSeek's and Google's models.

The launch of Grok 3 comes amid a bitter rivalry between Musk and OpenAI, including lawsuits and a rejected $97.4 billion takeover bid by Musk.

Investor Interest: xAI is reportedly in talks to raise $10 billion in funding, which would value the company at $75 billion. The company is also nearing a deal with Dell Technologies to purchase more than $5 billion worth of servers powered by Nvidia GB200 chips.
