Texas GOP To Keep Its Account On Social Media Network Gab Defying Governor Abbott

After Texas Republican governor Greg Abbott bizarrely attacked social media network Gab, his party announced that they are keeping their account on the free speech platform.

The governor in a video he posted on social media branded Gab "anti-Semitic," stunning many conservatives and free speech advocates. He made the comments during a press conference announcing a bill reportedly aimed at fighting antisemitism in the state. Antisemitic platforms like Gab have no place in Texas and certainly do not represent Texas values, he said.

The Vice Chair of the Republican Party of Texas, RPT, Cat Parks, also publicly called for the party to withdraw from Gab.

Gab CEO Andrew Torba hit back at the governor, saying “there are many Jewish Gab users and customers, whose lawful speech we protect with just as much zeal as we would protect the lawful speech of any person of any faith, ethnicity, or creed.”

Defying the governor and Parks, the party in a statement said : "The RPT will always fight censorship. We support the First Amendment, including free speech platforms and Vice-Chair Cat Parks' right to criticize such. The TexasGOP has no plan to deplatform from any of our social media accounts. The First Amendment still shines brightly in the Lone Star State."

The party is currently chaired by former congressman Col. Allen West, a conservative 'Tea Party' firebrand who is not likely to bend to pressure from the party establishment or left-wing outrage machine.

Torba welcomed the party's announcement, writing on Twitter, "The Texas GOP stands with Gab. [Governor Abbott] is welcome to get on Gab as well. No hard feelings!"

Gab is popular among free speech advocates as the only social media network that is truly committed to preserving free speech online against all odds.

Big Tech companies like Facebook, Amazon, YouTube and Twitter have in recent years pursued an aggressive censorship regime against conservatives on their platforms leading many to flock to pro-free speech platforms like Gab.
