During the introduction of the tech giant's latest version of its computer operating system, Chief Product Officer, Windows & Device, Panos Panay also introduced a redesigned Microsoft Store.

"The new Microsoft Store is your single trusted location for apps and content to watch, create, play, work and learn," Panay wrote in a blog post announcing Windows 11.

Users will be able to download their favorite apps from the store regardless of the app framework on which the app is built. Developers can publish on the store, desktop apps built using .NET, Electron, React Native, UWP(Universal Windows Platform), Xamarin, Java, PWA(Progressive Web App), and of course Win32.

"We’re excited to soon be welcoming leading first and third-party apps like Microsoft Teams, Visual Studio, Disney+, Adobe Creative Cloud, Zoom and Canva to the Microsoft Store," Panay announced.

Microsoft also announced that Android apps will be coming to Windows 11. "Starting later this year, people will be able to discover Android apps in the Microsoft Store and download them through the Amazon Appstore," Panay revealed. He said the operating system will be using Intel bridge technology to power Android apps in Windows 11 devices.

Users will be able to run apps like Triller, TikTok, Evernote etc on their Windows 11 devices.

Panay announced another big change which many see as a knock on Apple AppStore: support for third-party commerce platform on Microsoft Store. Developers will be able to use their own commerce solutions in their apps to charge customers and Microsoft won’t take any fees, which means 100% of the revenue will go to the developers.
