Youtube Music Gets Local Music Upload Feature

Keneci Channel.

One of the long-awaited features is finally being rolled out to Youtube Music users. Users will be able to upload and playback music files online and offline.

This feature set Google Play Music apart from other music streaming services. And subscribers have been waiting for its addition to Youtube Music. But you have to wait a bit longer if you want to transfer your uploaded Google Play Music library to Youtube Music. The company promises to provide a seamless way to do that before they shutdown Google Play Music.

For now the only way to upload your music file is through the Youtube Music website. Either sign in and drag and drop your files on the surface of the website; or click your profile picture on the top-right corner and select "Upload music."

Only audio files and associated metadata can be uploaded. No videos. Supported file formats include MP3, W4A, FLAC, OGG, and WMA. You can playback the uploaded music ad-free online and offline just like you do with Google Play Music.

The feature is being rolled out gradually to users with or without premium subscriptions. There are minor limitations detailed by Youtube.
