Netflix’s share price tanked in pre-market trading on Wednesday after the company revealed it had lost 200,000 subscribers between January and March of this year. In releasing its first quarter report Tuesday afternoon, the California-based company also revealed it expects that it will lose an additional 2 million subscribers by the end of the second quarter.

Netflix shares cratered by 20% following the report Tuesday, erasing about $40 billion of its stock market value. And by Wednesday morning before market open, Netflix shares were down by 27%. Since it warned in January of weak subscriber growth, the company has lost nearly half of its value.

Commenting on the report Tuesday, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk blamed "woke mind virus" for Netflix's woes.

"The woke mind virus is making Netflix unwatchable," Musk tweeted Tuesday night, responding to Slashdot’s report on the streaming giant's financial woes.

Musk once said in an interview with Babylon Bee that: "At its heart, wokeness is divisive, exclusionary, and hateful. It basically gives mean people a shield to be mean and cruel, armored in false virtue."

Netflix has indeed released controversial degenerate content in recent years, alienating many of its conservative subscribers.

The woke company faced backlash in 2020, over the movie Cuties which critics say encourages grooming and sexualization of children.

Earlier this year Netflix released He’s Expecting, a ridiculous Japanese-language transgender comedy drama about a 'man' who becomes pregnant.

The woke company also released Dear White People,” an original series about black students’ experiences at an Ivy League colleague. The series caused a stir due to what some said was a racist portrayal of white people.

Another recently released documentary, Vikings: Valhalla, was criticized for inaccurately depicting women as Viking warriors.

The company's obsession with woke content has of course turned many sane people off, leading to lagging subscriber growth for the first time in more than 10 years. However the company blamed its woes on inflation, the war in Ukraine, and fierce competition among streaming services.

Netflix co-CEO Reed Hastings who has long opposed selling advertisements on the service, is now desperate. He said the company would be experimenting with lower-cost, ad-supported packages and acknowledged the effect of growing competition in the streaming market.

Critics online slam the streaming giant for not heeding the 'go woke, go broke' meme. They point out that all the woke movies published by the company flopped, yet the company chose appeasing far-left woke activists over making money for its shareholders -- the story of many other woke corporations.

Apparently the world's richest man and popular Twitter user agrees with Netflix's conservative critics. Musk has been a vocal critic of woke and 'cancel' culture. He recently offered to buy Twitter -- which is notorious for its woke company culture -- and take it private.
