The left-wing social media company made the admission during its quarterly earnings release Thursday.

Twitter overstated the number of daily users on its service for three years straight, overcounting by over 1.9 million users each quarter from Q1 2019 through Q4 2021.

This is not the first time the social media company has admitted to overstating its user numbers. The company in 2017, revealed that it had been overstating its user figures in the 3 preceding years.

In today's earnings release, Twitter also reported an operating loss of $128 million on revenue of $1.2 billion -- below market expectations -- citing “headwinds associated with the war in Ukraine.”

This is possibly one final embarrassing earnings release by Twitter, before SpaceX CEO Elon Musk takes ownership of the company and takes it private, at which point it will no longer have to share these figures publicly.

The Tesla CEO who struck a deal this week, to buy Twitter, has said that buying the social media company “is not a way to make money.” Indeed the company has never been a huge moneymaker since its founding.

Twitter employees and leftists globally, have been having a collective emotional meltdown since the announcement that Musk is buying the company.

On his part, Musk has been trolling his haters with memes and hilarious tweets.

The liberal Tesla CEO sent out a viral tweet Thursday, suggesting that ideologically the left has gone too extreme for his liking.

The meme shows a character labeled “me[Musk],” going from center-left to center-right between 2008 and 2021. The meme also shows the conservative side of the spectrum remaining in place as the left side runs far-left and become a “woke ‘progressive’” denouncing the right as a “bigot!”
