Ministry Of Truth: Outrage Over Biden's New 'Disinformation,' Speech Police

The secretary of United States Department of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas appeared this week, before the House Appropriations Subcommittee to discuss the department's fiscal 2023 budget. The secretary revealed during the appearance, the establishment of a 'Disinformation Governance Board DGB: "...to identify individuals who very well could be descending into violence by reason of ideologies, of hate, false narratives, or other disinformation and misinformation propagated on social media and other platforms."
The announcement alarmed many who took to social media to express fears that the Biden administration may be ramping up censorship efforts in collusion with Big tech. 'Ministry of Truth' trended on Twitter in reference to one of the four ministries mentioned in the 1949 dystopian novel by George Orwell.
It was later reported that the person appointed to run the new board is Nina Jankowicz -- an unhinged far-left partisan Democrat who herself famously spreads misinformation online and is an ardent opponent of free speech. "Cat’s out of the bag: here’s what I’ve been up to the past two months, and why I’ve been quiet on here," Jankowicz tweeted. "Honored to be serving in the Biden Administration @DHSgov and helping shape our counter-disinformation efforts."
Mayorkas also named Rob Silvers and Jennifer Gaskell as leaders of the new board.
News of the DGB comes the same week that left-wing politicians, talking heads and activists around the world are having a collective meltdown over the acquisition of social media company Twitter by SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Jankowicz herself slammed the deal.
Musk responded to podcaster Steven Crowder's tweet about the DGB.
Crowder wrote: "The government is creating a misinformation governance board. Who else did something like that? Oh I remember, the Nazi’s. And there’s some data showing some interesting things going on post-@elonmusk’s Twitter takeover!"
To which Musk responded: "Discomforting."
On his Fox News show Thursday, Tucker Carlson warned that the Biden administration may use the board to target his political opponents.
"So, one of our biggest law enforcement agencies has men with guns around the country doing so many things to stop disinformation and false narratives," the Fox News host said. "Those aren't even lies. They're just deviations from the approved script. Mayorkas told us again that men with guns planned to 'identify individuals who could be descending into violence.' Could be descending. Not people who've committed violence or even been accused of any crime at all. DHS is instead using law enforcement powers to identify and punish people who think the wrong things. That would be opponents of the Biden administration. Is this dystopian fiction? No. It's happening right in front of us."
