Hypocrisy? Prominent Leftists Call For The End Of 'Cancel Culture'

The group which includes writers, professors and other left-wing activists, signed a letter Tuesday, urging their fellow left-wing activists to end the ongoing crusade to destroy the lives of those who have 'unpopular' opinions.

The letter titled 'A Letter on Justice and Open Debate,' reads in part, "Our cultural institutions are facing a moment of trial. Powerful protests for racial and social justice are leading to overdue demands for police reform, along with wider calls for greater equality and inclusion across our society, not least in higher education, journalism, philanthropy, and the arts.

"But this needed reckoning has also intensified a new set of moral attitudes and political commitments that tend to weaken our norms of open debate and toleration of differences in favor of ideological conformity. As we applaud the first development, we also raise our voices against the second."

The group dishonestly smeared President Trump as "real threat to democracy," because 'orange man bad, right'? They however warned the left-wing 'resistance' to not "harden into its own brand of dogma or coercion."

Signatories to the letter include 'Harry Potter' author J.K. Rowling, New York Times opinion editor Bari Weiss and political activist Noam Chomsky.

Many conservative critics called out some of the signatories to the letter for not speaking up for conservatives who have been the first victims of cancel culture.

One of the signatories, Vox writer Matt Yglesias has in the past mocked conservatives for "whining" about cancel culture.

The death of George Floyd and left-wing leaders' tacit approval of the riots and looting that followed have apparently emboldened 'Black Lives Matter' and far left extremists, and they have vengefully escalated their campaign.

Many have been hounded out of their jobs for reasons as silly as merely saying 'all lives matter,' and as spiteful as being stalked by some random activists and falsely called a racist.

The left has in recent decades been waging a war on free speech and open debate. They violently try to shut down conservative or right-leaning opinion anywhere it is expressed. And they try to ruin the life of any conservative who they think is becoming too influential -- this is the 'cancel culture.'

Words like 'cancel culture,' doxxing, deplatforming, censorship, are all too common on the Right.

Recently however, the chickens appear to have come home to roost. The left-wing 'cancel culture' mob are turning on fellow leftists.
