Conservative student-focused organization Turning Point USA, TPUSA held an event in Tampa, Florida over the weekend, which was attended by former President Donald Trump among other political and cultural leaders, activists and young students.

Far-left thugs as usual showed up to protest the event. Some of the neo-Nazi protesters had swastika flags. And that was exactly what many left-wing media outlets picked up, and immediately started smearing TPUSA.

“Neo-Nazis were out there in the front of the conference with antisemitic slurs and, you know, the Nazi swastika and a picture of a so-called Jewish person with exaggerated features, just like Goebbels did during the Third Reich,” ABC's The View co-host Joy Behar said on Monday. “It’s the same thing, right out of that same playbook.” Her colleague Whoopi Goldberg falsely said the protesters were allowed into the event, and suggested they were embraced by TPUSA.

Responding to the smear campaign against his organization, founder Charlie Kirk sent a cease-and-desist to ABC demanding that The View co-hosts retract their false claims and apologize.

“The false statements of fact intentionally made during The View’s July 25th segment were unquestionably harmful to TPUSA’s reputation and brought the organization and its student affiliates into disrepute with the public, potential donors, and current and future business partners, posing a significant financial loss to the organization,” the letter which was obtained by Fox News reads in part.

The View apologized on Wednesday.

"On Monday we talked about the fact there were openly neo-Nazi demonstrators outside the student action summit of the Turning Point USA" co-host Sara Haines said reading from a legal note. "We want to make clear these demonstrators were gathered outside the event and that they were not invited or endorsed by Turning Point USA. A Turning Point USA spokesman said the group, “100 percent condemns those ideologies” and said Turning Point USA security tried to remove the neo-Nazis from the area, but could not because they were on public property. Also Turning Point USA wanted to clarify — wanted us to clarify that this was a Turning Point USA summit and not a Republican Party event. So we apologize for anything we said that may have been unclear on these points.

Responding to the apology, TPUSA said on Twitter: "The View has issued yet another formal correction to TPUSA and its students LIVE on air. The apology was issued by Sara Haines. Whoopi remained silent and has not retracted her comments that TPUSA 'metaphorically' embraced 'Nazis.'"

Critics have pointed out that far-left media talking heads like the The View hosts routinely smear conservatives with false vitriolic claims, and only apologize when threatened with litigation.
