The audio upload feature announced by Google has finally been activated on all youtube music accounts. Many Google play music users have cited the absence of this feature as the reason why they have not made the switch to youtube music.
Here we show you how to start uploading your audio files. Supported file formats include MP3, M4A, FLAC OGG and VMA.
First sign in to your youtube music account music.youtube.com on desktop(or mobile) browser.
Click on your profile picture. Then select Upload music from the drop down menu. This opens up your local file browser from where you can select the file you want to upload
If you are using a desktop browser, you can skip this step and instead drag and drop your file anywhere on the surface of music.youtube.com window from your file browser.
After selecting or dropping your file, it will start uploading automatically. You can see the upload progress bar and confirmation message at the bottom left corner.
Click on library. Then click on Songs and select Uploads from the drop down menu to reveal your uploaded songs.
It may take a minute or less for google to process and display your uploaded song and for you to access it on youtube music app.
Don't bother if you mistakenly uploaded a song twice. Youtube music will automatically remove duplicate copies from your library.
In the youtube music app go to Library > Songs > Uploads or Library > Albums > Uploads, to access your uploaded song.
